The Challenge
Madras Medical College (MMC), a premier healthcare and educational institution, generates highly complex wastewater streams converging from dense pathological laboratories, active surgical units, sanitation facilities, and general hospital operations. This heterogeneous effluent contains hazardous biological contaminants, trace pharmaceutical residues, heavy pathogens, and harsh chemical cleaning reagents. Such a toxic matrix requires incredibly specialized, multi-barrier treatment to meet the incredibly stringent bio-medical discharge norms mandated by central authorities. Their legacy, aging infrastructure was fundamentally incapable of handling peak load surges, leading to intermittent compliance failures, severe odor issues, and unacceptable environmental risks.
Our Solution
Tigreen approached this critical public health challenge by designing a unique, combined ETP (Effluent Treatment) and STP (Sewage Treatment) hybrid solution utilizing our proven technology platform, but outfitted with ultra-specialized healthcare-grade treatment modules. This advanced multi-stage system systematically deconstructs biological, chemical, and refractory pharmaceutical contaminants through a precisely timed sequence of advanced radical microbubble technology, dynamic chemical neutralization, and final-stage certified nano-filtration. Because the campus is historically space-constrained and highly trafficked, our compact, vertical plug-and-play design was critical—saving 90% of the footprint typically required by competing biological systems. The installation bypassed heavy civil excavation entirely and achieved flawless, 100% regulatory compliance from its very first day of commissioning, transforming a liability into a sustainable asset.
